Description

Olive oil with garlic (garlic) is a versatile combination used both in cooking and for health applications. Here are some of the ways it is used:

Culinary use

  1. As a flavoring or base for dishes:
    • Pasta: Use olive oil with garlic as a base for simple pasta such as Aglio e Olio, with the addition of chili pepper and parsley.
    • Pizza: Drizzle over pizza for extra flavor.
  2. Marinades:
    • For meat, fish, or vegetables. Garlic adds depth of flavor, while olive oil ensures proper distribution of spices.
  3. Baking and frying:
    • Perfect for baking potatoes, vegetables, or bread. The garlic caramelization in the oil gives a rich flavor.
  4. Dip for bread:
    • Combine olive oil with garlic and herbs such as oregano, thyme, or basil for a delicious bread dip.
  5. Finishing dishes:
    • Add a dash of garlic oil to grilled vegetables, soup, or rice dishes for a flavorful boost.

Health benefits

  1. Strengthen Immune System:
Garlic contains allicin, known for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Along with olive oil, rich in antioxidants, it can help fight colds and infections.
  2. Digestive support:
A small amount of olive oil with garlic can stimulate digestion and reduce flatulence.
  3. Skin and hair care:
Garlic oil (olive oil infused with garlic) is sometimes used to reduce hair loss and keep skin healthy, although this use is less common.

What is infusion?

Olive oil with herbs by infusion is a culinary technique in which herbs, spices or other flavorings are drawn into olive oil to naturally flavor the oil. This process is known as infusion. Casa Astrid does not use artificial flavors.

How do we make this ?

In infusion, flavorings such as garlic, rosemary, thyme, chili peppers, lemon peel, or basil are added to olive oil. The oil absorbs the flavors and aromas of these ingredients, creating a fragrant and flavorful oil that is ideal for use in dishes such as salads, marinades, pastas or as a dipping sauce.

The herbs or spices are added to the oil at room temperature. This process takes several days to weeks, depending on the intensity of the flavor. The result is filtered and bottled.
