Olive oil with basil is often used in cooking to add flavor to various dishes. It is especially popular in Mediterranean cuisine. Here are some common applications:

  1. Salad dressing: Basil oil can be used as a base for homemade salad dressings. Its fresh, spicy flavor goes well with green leafy vegetables and greens.
  2. Pasta: Drizzle basil oil over pasta dishes, especially those with lighter sauces such as pesto or marinara, to enhance the flavor.
  3. Bruschetta: Use it to brush on toasted bread for bruschetta, for an extra layer of flavor before topping with tomatoes, garlic and other ingredients.
  4. Grilled Vegetables: Use as a marinade or drizzle over grilled vegetables to give them a hint of basil flavor.
  5. Marinades: Incorporate it into marinades for chicken, fish or tofu to infuse them with a fresh basil flavor before grilling or roasting.
  6. Caprese Salad: Use it in a Caprese salad alongside fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar for a classic Italian appetizer.
  7. Pizza: Drizzle over pizza before or after baking to add an explosion of flavor to the crust and toppings.
  8. Dip Oil: Serve it alongside crusty bread as a dip oil, perhaps with a pinch of Parmesan cheese or a splash of balsamic vinegar.

All in all, basil oil can be a versatile ingredient to have in the kitchen, adding depth and complexity to a wide range of dishes.
