Casa Astrid produces EVOO from its own production, the olive grove is in Italy, Umbria, in the mountains around the town of Assisi at 625 meters altitude. The place is called Costa di Trex.

Casa Astrid harvests annually in the month of October. This is when the olives are still green in color, full of healthy antioxidants and polyphenols. Casa Astrid does not go for volume but for a quality healthy product. An early harvest results in a healthier EVOO but has less yield than a later harvest.

The more qualitative the EVOO the higher the boiling point. So yes, baking with our EVOO can and may, but be aware that the healthy substances present in my extra virgin, are going to be severely reduced by heating. Do you want to know all about it ? Our extra virgin is best used up to 18 months after harvest, (and not 18 months after bottling as commonly prescribed). The four enemies of extra virgin are light, oxygen, temperature and time. This is why Casa Astrid’s EVOO is bottled in stainless steel bottles or Ecopacks that do not let the light through. Store the bottles or Ecopacks under temperatures of 15-17 degrees and the oil will stay fresh much longer.

The three varieties of our olive grove are: Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo. These are the best-known varieties in central Italy. Italy is the country with the largest number of varieties, some 600 different olive trees, each with its own specific taste and characteristic.

Because a Bio certificate by country is not only cumbersome but also quite expensive for our limited production volume, Casa Astrid is not Bio certified. Artificial fertilizers have never been used on our property and we keep it that way.

In addition to the “ready for sale” products in stock at Ghent, we maintain a bulk stock of extra virgin in Italy. We bottle regularly and put it back as “ready for sale” in Ghent. Like a store, Casa Astrid’s website is shut down for a while when I am absent. Just enter your email and I will send you a message when I am operational again and can serve you properly.
I commute regularly between Belgium and Italy and maintaining my olive grove, harvesting, bottling and packaging takes its time.

We sell our products to a very limited number of retailers who know the product, and who subscribe to the quality criteria for stocking it.

In multiples of six, unit prices are automatically adjusted online. Sending larger quantities saves everyone costs.

Online orders are reserved in stock and prepared and presented to Bpost each Tuesday. In 95% of cases, Bpost delivers the following day on Wednesday.

Casa Astrid is an artisan business and groups weekly deliveries for its customers. In doing so, we avoid very many small trips by transportation firms and the unnecessary consumption of fossil fuels.

Shipments within Belgium are charged €8.5. For orders above €100, we take care of the shipping costs.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel orders once it is placed. If the order has just been placed, please contact us and provide the reason for cancellation. As long as we haven’t started preparing your package, we can still manually reverse your order.
